Pocket God

Over two million copies of the iPhone app now sold.

SAN FRANCISCO - January 19, 2010 - Bolt Creative has announced that Pocket God has now sold over two million copies, becoming the first paid app to cross the two million sales mark. While the announcement comes too late to put Pocket God in the “2010 Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition,” the game is now securely in the hearts and home screens of over 2 million users. If you were to stack all the Pocket God iPhones and iPod touches end-to-end, they’d be over 140 miles tall – the equivalent of 23,000 Easter Island tiki heads, or taller than 33 of the world’s tallest volcano, Hawaii’s Mauna Kea.

What started as a casual game about tormenting adorable islanders has evolved over time to include many of the community’s most-requested features. With nearly 30 free updates and a bargain $.99 price tag, Pocket God has moved from lovable app to iPhone zeitgeist. Like a fine wine, the app has improved with age since its arrival in January 2009, and it’s still hot. Sales of the game have moved over 53,000 units in a single day and over 100,000 units per week around the 2009 holiday season. The game now features a variety of locations, natural disasters, challenges and monsters – an unparalleled degree of support from the team at Bolt

“We couldn’t be happier with the turnout we’ve seen at the island,” said Bolt CEO Dave Castelnuovo. “The community has been absolutely incredible embracing this game. From the thousands of YouTube videos to the homemade Halloween costumes to the valuable user feedback we’ve received, we can’t thank our community enough for our success.”

A slew of awards and accolades have piled up at the Bolt Creative studio, including nods from WIRED and Apple. The perpetually-unlucky islanders have even made cameos in other successful iPhone titles like Doodle Jump and Harbor Master. Whether you’re flinging natives into a volcano or accelerating global warming on your island paradise, Pocket God has something for everyone. And of course, another update is on its way.

Pocket God can be purchased in the iTunes App Store. For more information, please visit www.boltcreative.com.
