Pocket God

Digital/print comic spin-off on the way.

Bolt Creative today announced that comic lovers everywhere will be able to get their hands on issue #1 of the Pocket God comic book come August 3, 2010. This new endeavor for the popular iPhone game turned franchise, will be available first in a digital version through iVerse Media, a digital distribution partner of Ape Entertainment, with a print version to be made available in late summer. The first issue of Pocket God will be one of four in a full color mini-series based on the best-selling iPhone app.

Created in just a week by developer Dave Castelnuovo and graphic artist Allen Dye, Pocket God has gone on to sell 2+million copies since its release in January 2009, making it one of the most successful titles on the App Store to date and has received recognition from Apple, Wired, G4TV, and more over the course of its run. The app throws players into the role of a deity who commands an island full of helpless, god-fearing inhabitants that unquestionably bend to the user’s whim, whether they want to or not. Priced at just $0.99, the game offers the most content for the price point with over 30 free updates that add additional islands, monsters, and mini-games to its repertoire.
