Player X on song with Beat The Intro mobile game
April 24th - Mobile content publisher Player
X has extended its presence in the mobile gameshow space by
signing an exclusive global deal for the popular Beat The
Intro music game.
Based on the hugely successful DVD Interactive game, sales of
which were second only to Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in
the run-up to Christmas 2005, the Beat The Intro mobile game
features polyphonic clips and lyrics that cover more than 50
years of popular music. Players have to identify the song and
the artist followed by three trivia questions relating to the
artist, song or year of release.
Similar formats such as Name That Tune have proved to be
extremely successful in North America and the Beat The Intro
game will go live with all major UK and European operators at
the end of April. The game has been localised into French,
Italian, German and Spanish with tracks tailored for each
country and is available on all 2.5G networks.
"This form of mobile gameplay is very popular with customers
and we're convinced operators will love it because of its
longevity potential. We're looking forward to releasing
several versions of the game ranging from heavy metal to
classical to soul and this versatility ensures that the game
will stay on operators' decks for the longest possible time,"
said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
Originally co-marketed with Capital Radio in 2004, the Beat
The Intro DVD has been released in the UK, North America,
Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, France and Spain.
Player X has exclusive rights for all these territories and
will also be rolling out the title into Asia and the
US.
"The idea for Beat the Intro came about after a party when my
CD collection was virtually destroyed while playing the game
with friends. I wanted to buy the game, but it wasn't
available and so we created it ourselves. Mobile is one of
the most important routes for us and key to the growth of the
format", said Kevin Deakin, Managing Director at Creative
Media and owner of Beat The Intro.
