Player X makes a mobile match with Strike It Lucky gameshow
Following the ELSPA Top 10 success of Family Fortunes and
Blockbusters, mobile media company Player X has launched
another mobile game on UK networks based on the popular
FremantleMedia gameshow Strike It Lucky.
The Strike It Lucky TV show aired worldwide, specifically
across the UK, US, France, Australia and Indonesia for more
than four decades. It reached its peak in the UK in 1987 when
it was the fifth most watched programme on UK television.
Contestants battled it out by answering questions and banking
prizes on their way to win the chance to play for the
jackpot.
The addictive mobile game, created by developer Qbranch
Wireless and licensed by FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide,
the licensing division of FremantleMedia, contains more than
400 questions. While the game has been designed especially
for a mobile screen, it also replicates the format of the TV
original by allowing contestants to play along to the
original gameshow rules.
"We have high hopes for the game following our previous
successes with Family Fortunes and Blockbusters. Our
partnership with Player X will help expand the Strike It
Lucky brand presence to masses of fans familiar with the show
as well as a broader base of consumers who are looking for a
fun and interactive game to play on their mobile phones,"
said Melissa Goodwin, Vice President, Interactive and
Telephony, UK, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide.
The news follows the recent multi-operator success of the
mobile games based on FremantleMedia's classic gameshows,
Family Fortunes and Blockbusters, which ranked among the Top
10 best-selling games on Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2.
Under the terms of the agreement, Player X has also been
granted rights to develop and create branded real tones,
wallpapers and active screensavers.
"This is a great game and we expect it to do as well as
Family Fortunes. We're increasingly finding that gameshow
content is loved by mobile gamers and we predict similar
success for upcoming title Sale Of The Century," said Tony
Pearce, Player X CEO.
