Player X goes global with exclusive Miami Vice mobile game
31st July - Mobile media company Player X has rolled out globally Universal Mobile Entertainment's Miami Vice mobile game in more than 40 countries ranging from Mexico to Latvia to India.
Player X is the exclusive publisher of official mobile game based on the Universal Pictures crime drama Miami Vice, directed by Michael Mann and starring Academy Award ® winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Jarhead) and Colin Farrell (S.W.A.T., The New World). Miami Vice was released in the US on July 28th, 2006 and will be released in other territories throughout the summer.
The mobile game is supported by a suite of mobile content that includes wallpapers and movie trailers and is backed by a comprehensive marketing campaign.
Player X has worked with July Systems and The Bigger Picture TV to create a dedicated mobile store and marketing WAP site around Miami Vice. The site is available in 18 countries with its shortcode included on movie outdoor advertising.
"We're thrilled with Player X's ability to achieve ubiquitous deployment of Miami Vice mobile content and that fans of this film worldwide will have an opportunity to engage a piece of Miami Vice's dangerous and alluring world on their handsets," said Jeremy Laws, senior vice president Universal Mobile Entertainment.
As well as a global operator marketing programme, Player X has also created an online marketing campaign cross-marketed via Universal Pictures movie sites in the US and across Europe with a dedicated web microsite for Miami Vice Mobile - www.miami-vice-the-mobile-game.com
"Miami Vice is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer and we believe the mobile game will further enthral a global audience," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
The news follows Player X's recent success in publishing and distributing mobile games. Two of its titles, Family Fortunes and Blockbusters have featured in the ELSPA Mobile Games Top 10 and its mobile game of Oscar-winning film Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit was a global hit.

About Miami Vice
The cocaine cowboys of the '80s are gone, but Miami's Casablanca allure, the undercover cops and the attitudes of Michael Mann's culturally influential television series have been enhanced by time in the feature film version of Miami Vice.
Ricardo Tubbs (Foxx) is urbane and dead smart. He lives with Bronx-born intel analyst Trudy, played by British actress Naomie Harris (28 Days Later, upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean II and III), as they work undercover transporting drug loads into South Florida to identify a group responsible for three murders.
Sonny Crockett (Farrell) [to the untrained eye, his presentation may seem unorthodox, but procedurally he is sound] is charismatic and flirtatious until - while undercover working with the supplier of the South Florida group - he gets romantically entangled with Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of an arms and drugs trafficker. Isabella is played by the Chinese actress Gong Li (Raise the Red Lantern, Memoirs of a Geisha).
The best undercover identity is oneself with the volume turned up and restraint unplugged. The intensity of this case pushes Crockett and Tubbs out onto the edge where identity and fabrication become blurred, where cop and player become one-especially for Crockett in his romance with Isabella and for Tubbs in the provocation of an assault on those he loves.
Miami Vice stars Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, Gong Li, Naomie Harris and Ciarán Hinds and is written and directed by Michael Mann, who also produces along with Pieter Jan Brugge; Anthony Yerkovich serves as executive producer.
