Player X expands into North America with industry veteran hire
Mobile media company Player X has increased its presence in North America by hiring industry veteran Scott Meyer as Senior VP Americas.
Meyer has more than 20 years of sales and operational experience and previously had senior roles with Packet Video, Real Networks and In-Fusio. He will be responsible for pushing Player X's already successful roadmap of quality mobile games, mobile TV and video to North American carriers.
Meyer's appointment follows recent senior executive hires in Southern, Northern and Central Europe as Player X continues to strategically expand its global footprint. The company already has more than 80 direct distribution deals with global operators that give it a potential audience reach of more than 1.6 billion people.
"We are delighted to have somebody of Scott's quality and experience on board. The Americas market is hugely important to us and we hope to build on our existing success in working with American carriers, licensors and content providers," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
The news follows Player X's recent success in publishing and distributing mobile games as well as the increasing impact of its emerging mobile video division. It recently published the exclusive mobile game of this summer's Miami Vice blockbuster movie and two of its game titles, Family Fortunes and Blockbusters have featured in the ELSPA Mobile Games Top 10. Its mobile game of Oscar-winning film Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit was a global hit and helped the company make its mark in North America.
"Player X with its experienced management team and strong brands is very well positioned for the North America market. I look forward to being part of the team that expands Player X's success into this market place," said Scott Meyer, Player X Senior VP Americas.
