Player X expands into India with 50-person facility
Mobile media company Player X has expanded its global footprint with the opening of its Indian office.
Based in Pune, one of India's most hi-tech cities, Player X India will be a dedicated QA, deployment and porting facility of up to 50 people.
The move to India is part of the company's aggressive expansion into content aggregation. Player X is an official aggregator to several tier one global carriers and works with premium content partners to distribute their games and video across the company's distribution network. Services include dedicated account management, portal management and marketing.
"This is a natural progression for Player X enabling us to offer our partners a complete distribution ecosystem and a wide variety of tailored services to meet their requirements. We're looking to scale the office significantly over the next 12 months," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.
The office in India, is part of Player X's global expansion plans. The company recently hired Paulo Gorab, VP Latin America to head up its operations based in Brazil and will soon be opening an office in Australia.
The announcement follows Player X's recent moves in ramping up its presence in the mobile games market by partnering with companies such as Sky TV and EMI Music and extending its relationship with FremantleMedia by adding a PrizePlay element to evergreen titles such as Family Fortunes and The Price Is Right.
These efforts were recognised earlier this year when it was selected as a Finalist for the prestigious 2007 Red Herring Top 100 Awards and it hopes to walk off with the Best Content Award at next week's Meffy Awards in Monte Carlo after the nomination of its made-for-mobile channel geekTV.
