Player One boosts its sporting line-up
Mike Tyson and Darren Clarke lead the new wave of sporting titles
Global publishers of mobile games and content, Player One, has announced the latest titles in its new sporting range with the release of Mike Tyson Boxing and Darren Clarke's Matchplay Golf for mobile phones.
Fully endorsed by the 'Iron Man' himself, Mike Tyson Boxing will pit players against a series of contenders as they attempt to climb the ranks and attain the glory of becoming World Champion. The dedicated mobile game features a training gym, a wide range of traditional boxing moves against and array of determined opponents and the chance to give Tyson the comeback he always wanted.
Pete Russell, managing director of Player One, said: "Mike Tyson is a sporting icon and we are delighted to be working with such a world class licence. This is the most innovative boxing game ever created for mobile and will delight boxing fans worldwide."
Those looking for a less brutal challenge can head out onto the greens with Darren Clarke's Matchplay Golf, the first Matchplay game for mobiles, which offers a number of unique features for mobile gamers.
Offering practice mode, stableford and stroke play, and a skins mode where every hole is virtual cash in the bank, there's something for every golf fan to master. The Matchplay mode places the gamer in Darren Clarke's fine golfing shoes, challenging the player to beat the opposition in a traditional head-to-head 18-hole game. All modes can be played with up to four players.
The only European to have won a World Championship event, beating Tiger Woods at the Accenture World Matchplay, Darren Clarke is one of the finest Matchplay golfers in the world and fully endorses Player One's new title.
Russell commented: "Darren Clarke is the quintessential Matchplay golfer and has been extremely successful. We fully expect him to have another successful year ahead of him, especially with the Ryder Cup upon us again in 2006. We are delighted to be launching a mobile game fully endorsed by Darren."
Following on the success of its previous sporting titles, which include Steve Davis Snooker and Freddie Flintoff Cricket, the latest two games will be followed by a number of world renowned sporting legends in 2005. Planned releases include Ronnie O'Sullivan Snooker, Jenson Button Racing and Earl 'The Pearl' Strickland in World Pool Championship (3D).
Founded in 1999, Player One has secured a range of sporting brand licenses which it continues to expand. A global publisher, the company has partnered with some of the top sporting brands in the world and continues to work with leading developers including the Bafta award-winning Distinctive Developments and Morpheme.
