Playdom makes first European moves

Social games company localises content as it expands into new markets

Social games company Playdom is making its first moves into Europe by localising its football title Bola for French, German, English, Italian and Spanish markets.

The Facebook game is free to play, with the release the latest ambitious move from a company that has already made four significant acquisitions this year with Acclaim, Offbeat Creations, Merscom and Three Melons.

"We’re building a formidable line-up, and steadily increasing our free-to-play games," commented John Pleasants, CEO of Playdom. "We’re now able to make our games even more accessible throughout Europe, with Bola leading the way."

According to AppData, Playdom has around 38 million monthly active users on Facebook, with games including Social City, Tiki Resort and Wild Ones. The beta for Bola has around 3.5 million monthly active users.
