PEGI Online website wins award for education
The online code for game providers scoops the Comenius-EduMedia's Seal of Approval
PEGI, the voluntary videogames rating system, has announced that its website - PEGI Online - has been awarded the Comenius-EduMedia's Seal of Approval for its web portal.
The seal is awarded to Europe's best ICT-based educational media, geared toward teaching, content and design and is distributed by the Society for Pedagogy and Information.
"Educating both parents and children about the meaning and practicalities of age recommendations implemented by the PEGI system is absolutely key to ensuring that children only play video and computer games that are suitable for their age group," said Michael Rawlinson, managing director of ELSPA.
"ELSPA congratulates the Helliwood team for building the PEGI Online website and improving protection for minors in the ongoing battle against unsuitable content."
PEGI Online - launched in 2007 - lists and supports online game providers that have committed to its PEGI Online Safety Code. The system is intended to offer parents an educational tool to help ensure their children's safely while playing games online.
