PCGA blames economic conditions for Activision departure
PC gaming organisation says more new members have joined than those who left
The PC Gaming Alliance has attributed the departure of Activision Blizzard to the current economic climate, which it says has caused some members to review their budget for membership fees.
Yesterday it was reported that Activision Blizzard, one of the founding members of the PCGA, pulled out of the organisation, however the group says that it has gained more members than it has lost.
"The PC Gaming Alliance is an industry consortium that relies on membership dues to perform its research," explained the organisation in a statement.
"Several members have determined that in the current economy they cannot justify the budget (membership and staff) required to maintain an active role in the PC Gaming Alliance. This does not reflect negatively on the PC Gaming Alliance charter as we have added more members then we have lost in this period.
"Our current membership includes some of the biggest names in the gaming industry including Epic Games, Capcom, Microsoft, Wild Tangent, Gamestop, Digital River, Sony, Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Hewlett Packard, Dell, Logitech, Antec, The EMA, Howies Game Shack, Razer and SMU Guildhall."
