London, 17th March - On a blustery and somewhat cold Wednesday afternoon in mid February, gamers watching Game Network on channel 172 via the Sky Digital media delivery system were treated to an exclusive treat of an interview with the programmers of Ubisoft's international smash hit "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory"
Live television has been around for years, but that cold and windy afternoon marked a distinct change in the way live games television is broadcast as medium, and its method of delivery. Using custom equipment designed to record and stream data over the internet direct to Sky telemedia's uplink station in London, the entire interview was filmed on location, without the need for satellite linkups, nor a feisty team of engineers.
Rolling out its first test of its outside broadcasting, skytelemedia intends to test its broadcasting system internationally over the next month before rolling out a full service outside broadcasting unit for this summers E3 conference across the pond in Los Angeles.
