Origin, Creat co-founders to keynote IGC East
Industry vets to speak on independent development and social games
Origin Systems Austin co-founder Dallas Snell and Creat Studios CEO Vladimir Starzhevsky will keynote Independent Game Conference East in Boston next month.
Snell, whose career can be traced back to the early days of Origin Systems on such franchises as Ultima and Wing Commander, will be speaking on the fundamental need for social gamers to feel connected, in a talk called "There's Nothing Casual About Social Games." He will be drawing on his experience as co-founder of social game publisher The Happy Cooperative.
Starzhevsky, meanwhile, will discuss "strategies for sustaining and thriving as an independent developer during these turbulent times in the videogame industry" in a talk called "Challenges of Independence." The talk will also discuss the benefits of working as a third party developer in the online publishing arena.
The Independent Game Conference East takes place in Boston May 7-8, 2009. The conference is focused on educating independent developers both in the console and online space. Additional information and registration methods can be found at IGCEast.com.
