Publisher association ELSPA has announced that it is to host a one-day conference in London next February dealing with the issues of online gaming, with talks from speakers from a wide range of companies involved in the area.

Due to be held on February 3rd at the Meridien Piccadilly, the conference will cover a broad span of topics related to developing profitable online gaming services, with four key speakers already confirmed for the event.

They include representatives from platform holders Michel Cassius, the senior director of Xbox Platform and Marketing for Europe, who will discuss the lessons learned from the first year of the Xbox Live service, and Nainan Shah, SCEE vice president for business development, who will talk about the responsibilities and challenges of being a service provider and the importance of community.

From a publisher perspective, Itzik Ben-Bassat, director of business development at Vivendi Universal Games, will discuss the application of PC multiplayer gaming experience to the console market, while Simon Protheroe, director of new media and online technologies at Eidos will discuss the reorganisation of business processes to accommodate online gaming.

"Online gaming has moved to the top of the business agenda and the industry is gearing up to meet the challenges this new channel presents," commented ELSPA business development director Tamsin Aspinall.
