One Year Gone, Still One Life Left

Europe's only FM broadcast videogame show celebrates first birthday, enjoys perilous survival, cake

It's hard to believe, but The Internet's Favourite Videogame Radio Show* One Life Left is one year old. The anniversary marks another milestone for the hour-long programme which has gone from strength to strength over the last 365 days, launching a number-one rated iTunes podcast and earning positive coverage from the broad spectrum (lol) of games media.

The show archives can be found on the team's website, www.onelifeleft.com. A second year of videogame mayhem was heralded with a new feature last night, taking a look at online dating in Second Life.

One Life Left's content is original and unique to the show, produced completely from scratch by a host of famous and not-quite-famous-yet contributors. Fans look forward every week to cookery with Ms Snacman, tips with Odds On OD, Simon Byron's As Seen On TV, David McCarthy's reviews, poetry, fan fiction and more.

"We consider it a really great victory for fans of time. Time and good radio," splutters co-host Robert Howells, in between mouthfuls of Ms Snacman's lovingly prepared birthday cake.

"And videogames?" suggests his audio partner, Ste Curran, "Isn't it a victory for videogames?"

"What are videogames?" replies news fox Ann Scantlebury.

We're not even joking: visit http://onelifeleft.com/otherstuff.php to hear a new, exclusive run down of the top 5 things Scanters still doesn't know after a year of bleeding-edge games reportage. See you!

About One Life Left:

Commissioned by London's award-winning Resonance 104.4 FM in early 2006, One Life Left began its second season in January 2007 in a new prime-time evening slot, and has grown from humbling, terrified, fumbling beginnings to become one of the station's most valued shows.

A sweet blend of light-hearted discussion, music, interviews and ridiculous features, One Life Left is unique in gaming and in radio. OLL has broadcast from the Develop Conference and Edinburgh Festival, as well as covering a variety of events national and international, and have many exciting secret plans for 2007.
