Konami's popular football franchise, Winning Eleven, has proved its strength once more - with the seventh iteration of the game selling over a million copies within three weeks of going on sale.

The game builds on the success of previous titles in the franchise, which have sold more than 12 million copies cumulatively. Winning Eleven 7 is set to arrive in Europe in modified form later this year, rebranded as Pro Evolution Soccer 3. A PC version of the game is also in the works, as this platform is not affected by Konami's exclusivity deal with Sony.
