Mercury Games win MCV & Xbox 360 Games fives tournament
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
London - 050707
Mercury Games triumphed over 59 other games industry companies to named champions at the MCV& Xbox 360 Game fives tournament held last Friday (29th June 2007) at Barnet Powerleague, North London.
Tournament which is organized by Intent Media's MCV magazine in conjunction with Microsoft Xbox 360 saw teams from Codemasters Studio, Xbox, HMV and team MCV battle it out to be named the games industry five-a-side champions.
Along with all the football games taking place there was all lots of beer and of course, Xbox 360 consoles to keep players occupied during breaks.
Being keen football fans, Mercury Games was delighted with an opportunity to showcase their skill on the football field. It also gave the team an excuse to do some 'research', for its forthcoming unique football game.
The Mercury Games team included Nana Penemo, Senior Producer; Leo Zullo, President; Neil Dickens, Graphic Designer and Mercury Games' [football game] testers Jordon Rocque, Samuel Rhoden, Akwasi Penemo and Ian Mills.
The Mercury Games team played eight games, facing injuries and 'crippling cramp'. The team still went on to beat Centresoft, last years winners of the MCV tournament. The team played strong games which enabled them to eventually win the final, a close 2-1 against Disney and claim the cup.
Nana Pememo, Mercury Games team captain commenting on the winning said: "We had a fantastic day. Our two months training paid off when we lifted the trophy. Although our triumph was great, winning without Simon Insull, our sales manager, was like England winning the world cup without David Beckham. We are already in training for next year. We would especially like to thank MCV and Xbox 360 for an excellent day, and of course Cobra beer."
