NVIDIA Leads The Way On DirectX 10 At Game Connection Lyon

Event sponsor NVIDIA supports developer talent and showcases the latest in graphics technology

THEALE, UK-NOVEMBER 29, 2006-From December 5-7 graphics industry leader NVIDIA and AMD will be at Game Connection Europe in Lyon, introducing the developer community to state-of-the-art graphics technology, including the World's first DirectX 10 enabled graphics processing unit (GPU). Game Connection is a unique forum in which developers and technology users can network, do business and learn about the latest technologies. Over 140 companies from 27 nationalities are expected to attend.

2006 marks NVIDIA's third year as a sponsor of Game Connection and this year's event in Lyon promises to be one of the most exciting and productive yet. With Microsoft Windows Vista and DirectX 10 unleashing awesome new possibilities for game graphics, NVIDIA will be helping developers to ensure their latest titles benefit fully from this technology.

Darryl Still, NVIDIA's Director of Content Management for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, explained: "Great content drives the graphics industry - that's why our relationships with developers are so important to our business. On November 8 2006 NVIDIA launched what is currently the only DirectX 10 capable GPU on the market, the NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800, and gamers are already hungry for content that makes the most of its capabilities.

"Game Connection is a great event because it allows us to meet face-to-face with developers, publishers and distributors to ensure that their projects exploit the full performance potential of NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) and media communications processors (MCPs). This is also is a great opportunity for us to identify new talent and give them access to NVIDIA's 'The Way It's Meant To Be Played' programme, helping to create the next generation of graphically stunning, industry leading titles."
