Nordic Game 2008

Second day of next month's do features a free-admission recruitment and education day.

The second day of the Nordic Game 2008 conference features the launch of a special admission- free recruitment and education program.

On 15 May from 9:00 to 17:00 students (over 18 years of age) and professionals in the areas of graphic design, computer science, IT, sound, music, art and other creative and engineering areas will be admitted free of charge to the Nordic Game Career Expo & Recruitment Day 2008 at the Malmö Convention Center in Malmö, Sweden.

Highlights of the day:

An enlarged Career Expo exhibition area showcasing some of the best Nordic and European game companies and educational institutions with their recruitment staff on site, including Crytek, Ubisoft Studios, Remedy, Avalanche and Starbreeze.

“Developer Spotlight”: Watch some of the best game developers work live in the Career Expo, experience motion capture demonstrations and more.

A special full day program, featuring guest speakers from the global games industry and exhibiting game companies and educational institutions, including:

”Surfing the Industry” – presented by Thomas Howalt, Business Development Manager at IO Interactive and editor of New Danish Screen, this session will focus on how to prepare for a career in the games industry, how to apply for jobs and even what to do if you are already working in another field but are interested in changing course. With Lisa Leffler Peura, HR Director at Jadestone and other recruitment specialists.

”Start-up-Survival-Kit” - Per Arne Lundberg, Business Manager at Swedish Game Incubator, and KooPee Hiltunen, Director of Finnish Neogames, trek the entrepreneurial jungle and give advice on how to avoid pitfalls when starting up a new game company.

The program will also include a day long “Speed Dating for Games” event: Introduce yourself to actively recruiting game development companies and get your dream job!
