Nokia launches N-Gage platform
The company's long-awaited successor to failed gaming handheld is finally set live as a community software platform
Nokia has soft-launched its anticipated N-Gage mobile gaming software platform, following a period of beta testing, called First Access, in the past couple of months.
The full software application is now available to download on the N-Gage website, and offers access to five titles at launch, with free trial and full game price points available, and additional titles will roll out over the next few months.
Compatible devices at launch include the Nokia N81, N82 and N95, although support will be added for the N73 and N93 handsets shortly.
Community functions, such as friends lists and feedback on games will also feature prominently on a platform that's been likened by some to Xbox Live, but for mobile phones.
The titles and price points available now are as follows:
- FIFA 08 (GBP 8)
- Asphalt 3: Street Rules (GBP 8)
- System Rush: Evolution (GBP 8)
- World Series of Poker (GBP 8)
- Brain Challenge (GBP 6)
