Nintendo unveils more traditional controller for Wii
Gamers who remain sceptical regarding the Nintendo Wii's unique remote controller may be pleased to hear that an alternative, more traditionally designed joypad is also on the way.
Gamers who remain sceptical regarding the Nintendo Wii's unique remote controller may be pleased to hear that an alternative, more traditionally designed joypad is also on the way.
Colour scheme aside, the "classic" controller bears more resemblance to a SNES pad than the Wii remote. It's designed for use with both hands, coming complete with a d-pad, analogue sticks and shoulder buttons. The picture released also shows a cable, suggesting that the pad won't work wirelessly.
It could be that the controller has been designed specifically for playing retro games - Nintendo has made much of its Virtual Console, which will allow gamers to download and play classic titles from the past.
