Nintendo promises 60 Switch indie games this year
Stardew Valley, Overcooked, Yooka-Laylee and Runner3 among those detailed so far
Nintendo has promised that more than 60 indie games will be available for the Switch before the end of the year, including some big names from the recent past and near future of the independent scene.
The Switch launches at the end of this week, on March 3, and the number of games available for the new console has been a point of concern. However, Nintendo claims it has lined up at least 60 indie titles, all of which will launch by the end of 2017.
That list includes two of the most celebrated indie titles of last year: Ghost Town Games' Overcooked, which will be available in a Special Edition, and ConcernedApe's Stardew Valley, which will introduce multiplayer to consoles on Nintendo's new platform.
Team17, which published Overcooked, will also release Playtonic's Yooka Laylee for Switch, and Stardew publisher Chucklefish will launch Cardboard Robot's Pocket Rumble and its own strategy title, Wargroove.
Choice Provisions will provide the Switch with one of its key indie exclusives: Runner3, the third game in a series it debuted on the Wii's WiiWare service. Other promising titles include Image & Form Games' SteamWorld Dig 2 and Team Shifty's Mr Shifty, which will be published by tinyBuild.
Nintendo has provided details of 17 indie games due for release throughout 2017, which you can read about here. A video showcasing those games is embedded below.
