Nintendo brings playable demos to WiiWare
Demo trial aims to increase numbers of users browsing channel
Nintendo is to introduce playable demos to WiiWare as part of a trial to increase the numbers of visitors using the Wii Shopping Channel.
CEO Satoru Iwata admitted to investors during a recent earnings briefing that the market for WiiWare and DSi Ware is currently small, reports IGN, and that the Wii Shopping Channel and DSi Shop are only browsed by people who already know which games they want to buy.
By introducing demos as part of a test program, Nintendo hopes to increase the numbers of users to the channels, said Iwata. Although he added he didn't feel they are necessarily the one solution to the problem.
The trial will incorporate a limited number of titles to begin with and will launch in Japan later this month.
