South Korean developer Ndoors becomes new subsidiary of MapleStory publisher
MapleStory developer and publisher Nexon Corporation has acquired South Korean massively multiplayer online company Ndoors Corp, best known for Atlantica Online and GoonZu Online.
Nexon has acquired a 67 per cent of Ndoors, including the shares of former chairman Seong-Mun Kwon. Ndoors will now be incorporated as a subsidiary of Nexon.
The two companies have been working together since 2006, with Nexon acting as publisher for Ndoors products such as KoongPa.
Ndoors' Atlantic Online won the Korea Games Award First Prize in 2008, before going on to considerable domestic and international success.
In 2009 Ndoors' consolidated revenues were put at 40.5 billion won (£24.0m/$36.3m), with an operating profit of 15.6 billion won (£9.2m/$14.0m). Overseas sales now account for 72 per cent of all revenues for the company.
"Nexon has been carrying out ongoing investment in the companies with outstanding development efforts," said Nexon CEO Su-Min.
"Ndoors, as well as an excellent development capability with domestic and international publishing capabilities would be a big help to expand Nexon’s portfolio and to carry out a global expansion policy," he added.
