July 20, 2006
Toss plenty of engaging puzzles, wonderful 3D graphics and liquid-smooth animations into a blender, add a pinch of adventure and you'll end up with something like "Chameleon Gems," a new digital diversion from Dekovir Entertainment
Dekovir Entertainment has announced the release of "Chameleon Gems" 1.0. The game lets you traverse a map of an ancient land and solve plenty of puzzles on the way. At each destination, you will discover a stone idol of a chameleon and a chain of colored gems, which are continually rolling along the spiral track towards a hole in the ground. Your objective is to control the idol and, using its magic power, blast gems before they reach the hole. Quick reaction and powerups will help you solve puzzles that become increasingly difficult with each level.
The trick of the game is to keep pace with the rolling chain of gems and clear them all away by using the chameleon idol. The idol's head tracks your mouse pointer, so moving the idol around, you shoot at a group of two or more gems of the same color. The chameleon fires a ball from its mouth and gems disappear, adding points to your score. At the end of each level, the score is converted to money that you can spend at the shop to buy extra lives or new skins for the chameleon. Each skin comes with different powerups and effects.
Traveling through the ancient land, you will have to deal with various puzzles in which the speed of rolling gems rises and so does the complexity of the game play. To pass a level, you need to demonstrate quick reaction and make use of gems that have special powers. Some of them can make the chain roll back or slow down for an amount of time. You can also gain an ability to shoot gems with a fireball, lasers or little stones. There are, of course, more "peaceful" powerups like Rainbow gems that can match gems of any color. Using powerups gives you a chance to survive in sticky situations, making the game more entertaining and fun to play.
"Chameleon Gems" benefits from ambient music and its vibrant, cartoon-like visuals, which are presented in 3D. Artists at Dekovir Entertainment have done their best to make every place you visit in Corax World visually unique. They have masterfully created silky clouds floating over the map of the world, gems that sparkle and shine as they smoothly move along the track and many other animations. The music is as good as the visuals. You will solve puzzle to the ambient music that has been specially written and recorded by a professional musician. "Chameleon Gems" is a wonderful and engaging game that will attract players of all ages.
