NetModerator
Metropolitan Police information harnessed to protect online gamers from shady characters.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEEDS – August 13, 2010 – Crisp Thinking, the global leader of user analytics and management technology for social media, has today announced that their user management platform, Crisp NetModerator, is the first to use Metropolitan Police information to test its ability to protect users in online games, virtual worlds and social networks.
Crisp NetModerator is a real-time automated profiling and moderation platform for social media that is currently employed by a number of hi-profile global online media companies including Sony Online Entertainment, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc, and LEGO.
The platform ensures companies create the safest possible online social environment for children by using profiling engines, which have now been trained and verified using “real life” data from the Metropolitan Police Paedophile Unit, to spot known predatory patterns from convicted predators.
Detective Superintendent, Graham Grant, Head of Paedophile Unit, Intelligence and HiTech Crime Unit, Serious Crime Directorate, New Scotland Yard, said:
“The priority of the Metropolitan Police Paedophile Unit is to safeguard children by disrupting criminality, investigating offences to a point of conviction and educating all of society. The size of the Internet poses challenges to all law enforcement in doing this, so we recognise that technical solutions developed by the private sector as a crucial activity. It is important for the Metropolitan Police to have partnerships with companies such as Crisp Thinking to assist in the development of online child protection solutions such as Crisp NetModerator.“
Adam Hildreth, CEO of Crisp Thinking, said:
“We have forged an excellent working relationship with the Metropolitan Police through the sharing of this data. We are strong supporters of the good work carried out by the Paedophile Unit and this partnership has enabled us to further develop our technology in our shared aim to protect children online.”
Crisp’s user profiling engines will be trained and updated with this data on an ongoing basis ensuring NetModerator customers stay even further ahead of the game when it comes to protecting their end users.
