Nearly 20,000 Gaming Geeks Gather at Third Penny Arcade Expo
2007 Event Heads to Larger Venue
Seattle, Washington - August 31, 2006 - Penny Arcade today announced that 19,323 people who love to play videogames descended upon Bellevue, Washington last weekend for the third annual Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) game festival that included exhibits from leading developers and publishers, tournaments, concerts and more. PAX 2007 will move to the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle in order to better accommodate a growing list of exhibitors and attendees alike.
"We really want to thank all of the passionate gamers out there who keep coming back to PAX," said Penny Arcade's Robert Khoo. "The community vibe the event has is just so amazing. Sure, people thank us for putting it on, but let's be honest- it's the attendees and group-atmosphere that make the show."
PAX 2006 Highlights:
" Consumers got first hand's on demos of big upcoming games including: Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (UbiSoft), Fury (Auran), Guitar Hero II (Red Octane/Activision), Saint's Row (Eidos), Castle Crashers (The Behemoth), Pirates of the Burning Sea (Flying Lab Software), Lego Star Wars II (Eidos), Final Fantasy III for Nintendo DS (Square-Enix), and Splinter Cell Double Agent (UbiSoft) for Xbox 360.
" Will Garroutte, winner of the Omegathon gaming contest, won a fully loaded Scion xB with a built in XBOX 360.
" Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins announced a $10,000 game student scholarship to be awarded at PAX 2007.
" Penny Arcade has teamed up with developer Hothead Games to create an episodic videogame based on the Penny Arcade comic strip.
