NCsoft Europe Appoints Community Manager
PlayStation.com Editor in Chief joins NCsoft
Friday 1 October 2004/... NCsoftTM Europe, the newly created subsidiary of the world's biggest online games company, NCsoft Corporation (www.ncsoft.net), today confirmed that Stephen Reid, has been appointed Content and Community Manager.
Originally a computer journalist at PC Pro, Reid has focused on community development at AOL - via their games, entertainment, chat and live channels - and then at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which he joined in 2001 as Editor in Chief of PlayStation.com.
Sebastien Vidal, COO of NCsoft Europe, said: "Having spent the last three years working closely with the European PlayStation community, Stephen is perfectly suited for this new role. His enthusiasm and drive will greatly benefit our business and, more importantly, he will be the bridge between the company and the people most important to NCsoft, the online community."
Reid, an avid online gamer who has been active in the City Of Heroes environment since its US launch earlier this year, commented: "I believe that my passions - web, community and gaming - fit perfectly with those of NCsoft who are the world leaders in the massive multiplayer online games market. I'm looking forward to building close relationships working with the existing community and to developing a new audience in Europe for NCsoft's range of games."
NCsoft announced the launch of its new European subsidiary in July. It has already successfully established itself in North America, Japan, Taiwan, China and Thailand. The launch of its European company takes NCsoft one step closer to constructing a global network for online game services.
NCsoft is planning to launch Lineage II and City of Heroes in Europe by the end of 2004, with Guild Wars set to follow in 2005. After that, the company will continue to service new games with the objective of establishing itself as a leading online game company in the European region by 2005.
The capacity of the online game market in Europe is expected to reach about $3 billion US this year, and in 2005 it is expected to exceed $5 billion US.
