NCsoft has broken the mould for Collector's Edition box sets and pre-order bonuses, with the announcement of a wealth of in-game and exclusive merchandising items to be included with the company's forthcoming MMO, Auto Assault.
Set in a perilous post-apocalyptic future, three factions (Humans, Mutants and Biomeks) battle to take control of the world, using a series of heavily armed vehicles including cars, motorbikes, semis and tanks. Players create characters that specialize in vehicular assault, driving through the hostile environment for power, wealth, and fame.
The game is due to reach Europe this spring, and customers who purchase the pre-order packs available from March 17th (the cost of which is fully redeemable against either the standard game pack or Collector's Edition box set) will be offered access to the remaining weeks of the beta test period, a four day head-start on the official launch of the game, an in-game loot bonus and an exclusive rail-gun weapon for the game.
Additionally, Ncsoft has created its biggest ever Collector's Edition for the game, which will include: An in-game 'pet' (remote control car), a headset with microphone for in-game chat, a massive road map detailing the Central Wastelands, a soundtrack CD with 19 tracks, wall poster, engraved metal keyring, collectible Human Biomek and Mutant postcards, exclusive bumper sticker, the full AA client on a single DVD and a free 14 day trial game for a friend. The Collector's Edition will retail for approximately GBP 29.99.
This is not the first time NCsoft has chosen to promote one of its titles with a comprehensive Collector's Edition - last year the publisher ran pre-order bonus promotions and offered collectible merchandising packs for acclaimed MMO titles City of Heroes and City of Villains.
