NavPower
Pathfinding middleware arrives at version 2.0.
Mountain View , CA - June 9, 2009 - Middleware developer BabelFlux LLC announced today the release of NavPower 2.0, a leading edge AI pathfinding and movement package optimized for console and PC platforms. NavPower provides one of the fastest available navmesh auto-generation libraries and a runtime system which automatically stitches together hundreds of navmeshes, allowing characters to seamlessly traverse large, open worlds.
NavPower 2.0 includes new features and enhancements that continue to improve on the core themes of high performance, quality navigation and ease of integration. NavPower 2.0 provides:
• Faster Runtime Performance: Enhanced multi-core, multi-thread support allows up to 90% of the runtime CPU load to be offloaded from the main game thread.
• Automatic Navmesh Stitching: The NavPower system automatically stitches together hundreds of navmeshes at runtime, providing continuous pathfinding across large worlds, while keeping the authoring simple.
• Easy to Integrate: NavPower's simple SDK allows developers to integrate its pathfinding technologies into their game within days. Raw level geometry is fed directly into the build process, accelerating development.
"The response to NavPower has been incredible since our launch last year," said Maria Tran, NavPower Director of Marketing. "In the past 12 months, NavPower has been incorporated into over a dozen games including the high profile releases of Tomb Raider: Underworld and Afro Samurai."
“On the technology side, one of the things that studios evaluating NavPower keep emphasizing is the speed and quality of the NavPower navmesh auto-generation process," said David Miles, NavPower CTO. “This is critically important for large, open world games and with NavPower 2.0 we've improved the build performance and quality even further."
