NASCAR The Game 2011
Developers sign NASCAR iRacing World Champ as technical advisor.
Tuesday 22nd February, 2011 – Gateshead, UK- Eutechnyx, one of the world’s leading independent game developers, has secured the services of the 2010 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Champion™, Richard Towler who has taken-up a key role in the racing dynamics team. His initial work includes finalizing the car set-ups, handling and fun-factor for NASCAR® The Game 2011 on PlayStation 3™, XBox 360™ and Wii™.
Previously a full-time professional gamer, Towler began competing with hardcore racing simulator iRacing.com™ during its public launch, qualifying for the ProSeries in 2009. He won the 2010 NASCAR iRacing.com Series World Championship after a 9-month, 18-race season against more than 25,000 other hardcore gamers including NASCAR’s most popular driver and 2-time NASCAR Nationwide Series champion, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. At NASCAR’s 2010 championship weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Richard was crowned champion alongside other NASCAR series champions Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski and Todd Bodine.
"We've often taken consulting guidance from racing experts such as Bruno Senna to balance and optimize our racing game engines", said Eutechnyx CEO Brian Jobling. "But now, having Richard Towler on the team full-time allows us to guarantee a realistic racing game architecture and use his vast experience of racing games to ensure appeal for the casual player too".
Richard Towler added, "I'm delighted to join a development team with such a strong pedigree in the racing genre. As a gamer myself, it feels great to be able influence the final polish and to help tune this game to make sure it is the best and most fun NASCAR ever created. Plus, I'm now a key part of the design team for all Eutechnyx games moving forward."
Towler is based at Eutechnyx' head office studio in Gateshead, England.
