Namco Bandai US merges casual division

Divisions pool resources to take advantage of shift to digital delivery

Namco Bandai in the US has merged its casual gaming business, bringing the division under the wing of Namco Bandai Games America.

The company said that it hopes the merger will provide more opportunies for the business, as it takes casual to a variety of platforms, including mobile, Apple iOS, web, PC and core games consoles.

"We strive to make games accessible to gamers across multiple platforms. Combining the company's deep pools of talent and resources is the best way for us to achieve our goal of broadening our consumer base," said Kenji Hisatsune, CEO of Namco Networks.

"I am very excited about uniting these dynamic groups and look forward to delivering top-notch content that's appropriate for multiple gaming platforms and communities."

The merger is expected to be finalised during the first quarter, 2011. Kenji Hisatsune will serve as president and CEO of the newly created company.

The most recent full year financial report for the Namco Bandai group saw it post disappointing results.
