MyGig

Competition winner Francesca Peters chooses indie rockers CSS as her headline act.

LONDON – 6th October 2008: One lucky music lover has won the chance to put on the event of their dreams with the help of Xbox, as the summer-long Xbox ‘MyGig’ competition reaches a gripping climax today.

Francesca Peters, 28, from London, has been announced as the winner of the national promotion, which will see her take charge of a big-scale, professionally produced party with support from Xbox’s panel of industry experts and a £50,000 production budget.

Having advised the team on her preferred music policy and production look and feel, Francesca’s night will take place at legendary London venue Koko on Wednesday October 8th. Headlining the main room will be electroclash indie rockers CSS, supported by up and coming bands Florence and the Machine and The Mules.

Having beaten over 4,500 other budding promoters who entered online at www.xboxmygig.co.uk, her winning entry was picked by Xbox’s panel of expert judges – Bestival boss and Radio One DJ Rob Da Bank, Andy McKay, the man behind Ibiza institutions Manumission and Ibiza Rocks, and Shaun Roberts, promotions manager of London clubbing mecca, Fabric. All of them deemed her gig proposition of ‘Tasty Butter’ – an imaginary night with The White Stripes warming up for Dolly Parton – as the quirkiest and most imaginative entry which deserved the big prize.

Tickets to the event will not be available to buy but will be available to win through various promotions running in the media over the next week. There will also be 200 tickets on the door giving anyone who gets there early free entry to the gig.

The MyGig event celebrates the end of a rocking summer of Xbox music activity. From an exclusive gig at Fabric headlined by Pendulum, to the Xbox May Days, Xbox 360 Presents Rock Band Live, The Xbox Weekenders at Ibiza Rocks Hotel and unique music at some of the best UK festivals, the activities drove more people than ever to experience great music games on Xbox 360® and to download the ever increasing music content direct to their consoles on Xbox LIVE®.

A delighted Francesca Peters said: "I'm still slightly astonished to have won. Swanning around Koko, which is one of my favourite venues, to the amazing live acts will be a exciting change to cramming everyone into my tiny flat to dance around an ipod. I can’t wait!”

Commenting on the event, Alex Weller, Brand Experience Manager, Xbox 360 said: “With over 4,500 entrants and 65,000 unique visitors to the MyGig site, we’ve been astounded by the interest in the promotion over the past few weeks. Clearly, it wasn’t easy for our judges to pick a winner but we’re really pleased for Francesca and are looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic night of music – it’s a fitting end to what’s been an incredible summer of music in which Xbox has brought music lovers amazing new experiences.”
