Move and Kinect retail prices in flux
GAME drops Move price, Microsoft claims $150 Kinect listing is 'placeholder'
Projected pricing on both Sony and Microsoft's upcoming motion controllers continues to change, as various retailers attempt to undercut each other.
While the rumoured $150 pricing for Kinect has been accused of being too high by analysts, the sum total of the various Move components comes to almost the same.
UK retail chain GAME has now lowered its pre-order price for the core Move controller down to £35. Other retailers, such as Amazon, continue to list it for £37-£40. The Navigation add-on, meanwhile, has been dropped from £30 to £25.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has defended its own site's listing of Kinect for $150 as 'placeholder.' The site now includes the addendum "Official pricing has not been announced. $149.99 is an estimate only and subject to change".
Additionally, Xbox Live's director of policy and enforcement stated via Twitter that "All prices now *no matter what the retail source* are placeholders. We’ve not announced."
While many retailers are now undercutting Move's official RRP, final pricing for Kinect will not be revealed until gamescom in August.
