Monster Hunter World PC release pulls in record number of concurrent Steam users

More than any other new game in 2018, and enough to make Steam Charts' all-time top ten

Capcom's Monster Hunter: World has proved to be a huge success on PC, attracting enough interest to take a spot in the all-time concurrent players top ten.

According to Steam Charts' data, Monster Hunter: World reached a peak of 239,779, the seventh highest total ever recorded on the platform.

It is also the highest total recorded by any game released in 2018, beating the 96,000 players who gathered for Kingdom Come: Deliverance. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds posted a higher peak number in January, but it was released last year.

PC Gamer posited that it is also the most concurrent players for a game made in Japan, smashing Dark Souls 3's record of 129,831 players.

It is yet more evidence of just what an important released Monster Hunter: World has been for Capcom. It drove the company's most profitable year ever, and it passed eight million units sold in Q1 of the current fiscal year.
