Miyamoto makes Pikmin first official Wii U title
Nintendo spokesman says development on Wii version has been transferred
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that a new Pikmin title, previously under development for Wii, will now come to the new Wii U console instead, making it the first confirmed title for the device.
Speaking at a roundtable press engagement after Nintendo's conference, Miyamoto explained that he was torn between professional and personal motivations as to whether he should speak about the game or not.
"There are two sides to me today, the corporate side that wants to follow the precedent we set for E3 of not announcing any titles, and the creative side of me that wants to tell you we're working on Pikmin."
Nintendo's strategy of not unveiling titles likely means that the platform holder will reveal more at the Tokyo Game Show this September.
Whilst, Miyamoto's mention of Pikmin 3 wasn't quite an official release, it certainly sounds like development is well under way.
"As we've been working on the Wii U I've gotten a look at the fancy new graphics and the new controller," said the figurehead. "I got the feeling it's the perfect game for that system, so we're going to make it on that.
"Maybe it won't be too long before it's ready for Wii U."
