Midway to close LA studio
Publisher to combine Moorpark operations with the San Diego office
Midway has announced that it will be closing its LA studio and offering relocation to "the majority of Moorpark employees" to its San Diego facility.
Among the staff to be offered relocation will be the entire development team for the TNA Impact franchise - and according to a statement that team's movement is a key reason for the closure of the LA studio.
"Combining the locations will allow the TNA Impact development team to further leverage synergies with Midway's other development studios in Chicago, Austin, Seattle, and Newcastle, UK, and work in close conjunction with the third party production, licensing, and quality assurance groups that are currently in San Diego," it read.
"In addition, the San Diego area has a strong interactive entertainment talent base that will greatly help fuel Midway's future growth."
Midway has poured a large amount of resources into developing cross-platform proprietary technology in the past couple of years, and following the departure of CEO David Zucker earlier in the year has also recently unveiled an online casual games portal to sell some of its classic arcade titles.
