Microsoft rushing to finish Windows Phone 8 [Report]
Polish on the mobile OS is pushing back the schedule
While Microsoft and Nokia had a press event last week to unveil the Windows Phone 8-powered Nokia Lumia 820 and 920, The Verge is reporting that Microsoft is rushing to make sure the operating system is done by its planned October release window. Microsoft planned to launch Windows Phone 8 in early October ahead of the October 26 release of the full Windows 8 desktop OS.
Devices were planned to launch in November, but hardware manufacturers are having problems with their WP8 devices. The Verge names HTC as one manufacturer who's having problems testing one of its planned WP8 phones. Microsoft is reportedly working with phone carriers to minimize testing times and customization in order to get WP8 phones on shelves in time.
Microsoft is expected to have a final version of the operating system as early as next week, with the Software Development Kit due tomorrow.
