Metacritic names Take-Two as best publisher
Red-Dead Redemption leads charge in overall 77.1% average on review aggregator
Review aggregation site Metacritic has compiled a list of its highest ranked publishers according to the average score of their released titles in 2010, with Take-Two coming out on top with an average of 77.1 per cent.
Read Dead Redemption was the company's highest scoring game, achieving an average score of 95 per cent from 96 reviews. The lowest scoring Take-Two tiles was Major League Baseball 2K10 on the Wii, managing just 52 per cent. The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom was named as the publisher's best original title, with a score of 83 per cent.
Nintendo's 76.1 per cent took second place on the publisher's leaderboard, with Super Mario Galaxy 2 the highest rated game of the year overall, averaging 97 per cent. Third on the list was Capcom with 74.5 per cent, followed by Microsoft's 73.4 and EA's 72.6. Activision Blizzard just missed the top five with a sixth-placed 69.3 per cent.
Metacritc split publishers into three groups for the list, with only major publishers who had brought at least 15 titles to market considered for this first section. Telltale Games ccame first in the medium publisher list, for companies with 7-14 games per year - actually outscoring Take-Two with 78.4 per cent overall. Smaller publishers were unlisted.
