Menus Master
To thank for Heavy Rain's user interface.
Paris, France – February 23rd, 2010: Omegame today announced the user interface of the critically acclaimed game Heavy Rain from Quantic Dream was entirely authored with Menus Master.
"We wanted to immerse audiences emotionally in the story, make them care for the characters and what happens to them” explains Guillaume de Fondaumière, Co-CEO of Quantic Dream and Executive Producer of Heavy Rain™. “The user interface, which is the link between the game and the player, is therefore very important. We benchmarked different technologies available on the market, and finally selected Menus Master as it was the only solution providing both great artistic possibilities and easy integration within our in-house engine and tools".
Menus Master helps artists and programmers to dramatically reduce the time it takes to author any sophisticated game user interfaces: 2D and 3D front-ends, in-game UIs and heads-up displays (HUD). The game user interface can be fully authored by artists, without any need for a programmer’s assistance.
“Heavy Rain is unanimously considered a masterpiece of gaming by the press around the world, because, for the very first time in the video game history, it succeeds in immersing the player into an intense emotional thriller” said Sébastien Kohn, Sales & Marketing Director for Omegame, “and this seamless experience was made possible only thanks to a smart and innovative user interface. We are glad and proud Quantic Dream managed to reach its goal thanks to Menus Master”.
For instance, FBI profiler Norman Jayden, one of the characters of the game, uses an experimental device which allows him to investigate crime scenes and analyze evidence by displaying information through an in-game three-dimensional augmented reality user interface.
"The astonishing work done by Quantic Dream perfectly illustrates that Menus Master covers the full spectrum of the user interface needs, from the simple two-dimensional user interface, to the next-generation three-dimensional user interface" said Sébastien Kohn.
