Megaton.co.uk
Eurogamer launches its games website for youngsters.
For Immediate Release
Brighton, England, 26 March 2010. Eurogamer, Europe's leading independent games media specialist, is pleased to announce the launch of Megaton.co.uk - the first British videogames website created for a youth audience.
Megaton.co.uk offers new, engaging, fun and interactive videogaming content on a daily basis for children aged 8-12.
"There's a massive gap in the market for our audience and the industry," said Cat Channon, Megaton.co.uk's Publisher.
"While many sites appeal to children and some cover games, no one is dedicated to making videogame content appealing. We've gone to great lengths to research this site and worked with the most experienced and knowledgeable people in the children's online space to ensure what we're producing works for our audience."
Megaton.co.uk uses a mixture of bespoke creative and editorial content, along with material licensed from SkyJack Publishing's Megaton magazine.
The site offers kids an opportunity to play and engage with videogame characters, environments and brands over a sustained period of time even before games have launched.
This new approach offers advertisers the chance to add value to the standard game offering and execute more creative campaigns before and after release.
"The games industry has been asking for dedicated children's media for years and we're thrilled to be able to fill this niche," said Rupert Loman, Managing Director of Eurogamer Network Ltd.
"The site content is looking great already and the strength of the draw for children will only increase as more games are released and content builds."
Megaton.co.uk is now live and its launch comes hot on the heels of issue two of Megaton magazine, which is on sale now at newsagents and supermarkets across the country.
