Maxis and Ozura creates Hotlink Warriors
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Singapore, 13 February 2007 - Ozura Mobile, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nextnation Communication, and Maxis Communication Berhad, Malaysia's leading telecommunications provider announced today the official release of its latest tournament games on MaxGames, Maxis' mobile gaming community portal which runs on Ozura's FunlogiX platform.
Hotlink Warriors, a series of branded games in conjunction with Maxis' Games Unlimited campaign features three distinct titles: Arena of Doom, Assassin and Legend of Maximus. Immersed fully in a super-heroic setting, the three games center on several unique characters with the lead character, Maximus as the ultimate 'good guy' and his arch-nemesis, Xylus as the omnipresent evil force in a classic battle of good versus evil.
"The response to MaxGames has been overwhelming since its inception. Active community participation has been positive since the first series of tournament games was launched and has been steadily increasing over the months. With its intriguing compendium of tournament games and the continuous addition of new content, MaxGames has gained due popularity among Malaysian mobile gamers," stated Lion Peh, Ozura's Chief Executive Officer.
"Superheroes play an important role in the youth culture nowadays. We now have a Superhero series that is in tune with Hotlink's brand values of redefining entertainment and the Games Unlimited proposition. We have mobile games and a comic series for Hotlink Warriors. It is a new way of reaching out to the young consumers," said Kee Saik Meng, Head of Games & Entertainment, Maxis.
Hotlink Warriors: Arena of Doom is an action based fighting game with five main characters to choose from. Besides the usual punch and block moves native to most arcade style fighting games, character specific combat moves are also accessible. Arena of Doom is specially made for casual gamers demanding simple action game play with little to no interest in storylines and plots.
Hotlink Warriors: Assassin is a side scrolling action based game revolving around the only female character in Hotlink Warriors, Hallie. Assassin focuses on Hallie and her mission to seek out and eradicate Xylus. Assassin is targeted at gamers whom enjoy simple mobile game play with some interest in the background and story plots of the world and its characters.
Hotlink Warriors: Legend of Maximus is a rich, immersive role-playing game where gamers take the role of Maximus and Hallie in their quest to confront Xylus and his men. Not unlike most role-playing games, characters in Legend of Maximus have the ability to level up, stock up on inventory and to learn new spells or abilities with a standard feature to save and load games. Legend of Maximus is a fully engaging experience with literally days of continued game play, a novelty by the standards of most mobile games.
All three games were launched simultaneously on Maxis' MaxGames mobile gaming community portal with the tournament expected to run for a period of two consecutive months. The first round of winners will be announced in Game & Anime Festival hosted by Maxis which will be held in Sungai Wang Plaza on the 16 of March.
