Mat Toor appointment
Former Dennis Publishing man to head up Imagine's online efforts.
Imagine Publishing today announced the appointment of Mat Toor as its new Head of Digital.
Toor is a former Editorial Director at Dennis Publishing’s Interactive division, where he worked on the successful relaunch of the Maxim and Auto Express websites, and the launch of IT PRO, which has quickly established itself as Dennis’ most successful digital-only brand.
More recently he founded Felix Dennis’ ‘skunkworks’ unit, Project Badger, and launched several successful websites, including Know Your Mobile, Know Your Cell and Den of Geek. They now have a combined audience of over 2 million readers a month. Toor’s experience fits perfectly with Imagine Publishing’s portfolio of 20 high quality tech magazines and 27 websites.
Prior to Dennis Publishing Toor worked as Managing Editor for Emap’s music websites – including Q, Mojo, Mixmag and Smash Hits – and at Orange.
“Imagine Publishing has a fantastic arsenal of award-winning magazines that I’m really looking forward to working with online,” said Toor. “It’s a place where dedication to editorial and design quality in imprinted into the company’s DNA. The bar is set really high – which is challenging but also exciting,” he added.
“My aim will be to ensure that our digital platforms showcase that excellent editorial to ensure it works just as hard online and to make sure that Imagine is at the top of its game when it comes to embracing new digital opportunities.”
“I am extremely pleased to welcome Mat to Imagine Publishing,” said Managing Director Damian Butt. “He has the perfect blend of online launch and growth expertise, editorial excellence, and the entreprenurial spirit we love at Imagine. I look forward to working closely with him to develop our existing website portfolio and digital projects, launch new and exciting sites, and also push our iPad magazines worldwide.”
Imagine Publishing is one of the UK’s fastest-growing consumer specialist publishers. Formed in May 2005, Imagine now publishes 20 regular magazines and 27 websites in the videogames, computing, entertainment, motoring and photography markets. An Imagine magazine is purchased every ten seconds.
