Mario Tennis Aces claims top spot in the UK retail chart

Switch exclusive is one of eight games in the top 40 on Nintendo's platform

Nintendo claimed the top spot in the UK retail charts last week, as Mario Tennis Aces made its debut in first place.

Mario Tennis Aces was one of three Switch games to enter the Ukie Gfk all-formats top 40, the others being Flashback: Collectors' Edition at 26 and Minecraft at 21 - the latter received a pointed video ad about cross-play between the Switch and Xbox One versions, highlighting the absence of PlayStation 4.

The launch title 1-2 Switch also re-entered the chart at 35, becoming the eighth Switch game in the top 40 overall.

However, Mario Tennis Aces was the only significant new game in the chart, pushing God of War from its now familiar spot at the summit of the UK chart.

The all-formats top ten is below, courtesy of Ukie and Gfk Chart-Track. As usual, the chart is for boxed sales, and does not include the full digital market.
