Publisher Majesco has announced record financial results for its fiscal second quarter, with the company's line-up of Game Boy Advance products highlighted as the key factor in its success this year to date.
For the quarter ended April 30th, the company announced revenues of $17 million, up 24 per cent on the previous year, and operating income of $1.1 million - more than double the $450,000 figure reported in the same quarter last year.
Gross profit for the quarter was up to $5.4 million, from $4.6 million last year. The strong second quarter results follow on from the company's first fiscal quarter, in which it also announced record revenues and profitability.
Majesco highlighted its range of products on the Game Boy Advance as being the cornerstone of its success - with the Game Boy Advance Video titles fingered as one key product which helped to lift the company's fortunes. The GBA Video titles, developed by DC Studios, give users the ability to watch episodes of popular TV series including Nintendo's Pokemon and a number of Cartoon Network properties on their GBAs.
"We were pleased with the quarterly financial results, as this is traditionally a weak quarter," said Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton. "Our product line, in particular our Game Boy Advance Videos, has generated a strong response in the marketplace... Moving forward, we are excited about the second half of our fiscal year as we expand our Game Boy Advance Video lineup, prepare to ship major franchise titles, and introduce new products - such as TV Arcade and Wireless Messenger - all of which will serve as a significant foundation for the ensuing fiscal year."
