Anti-piracy technology firm Macrovision has announced the appointment of a new general manager of emerging business, who will assume direct responsibility for overseeing the company's Trymedia Games division.
A senior executive at numerous technology firms over the past eight years, Loren Hillberg played a pivotal role in the launch of online casual and downloadable games portal, Shockwave.com, with his previous employer Macromedia. With an extensive background in business and corporate development, Hillberg most recently served as EVP and general counsel for Macrovision.
"Trymedia has been a pioneer in online game distribution and it's exciting to integrate that expertise with Macrovision's strengths on the physical side as well as open up possibilities into new areas, including digital distribution," Hillberg commented.
Macrovision had previously focused much of its efforts on the prevention of CD and DVD duplication to prevent software piracy, changing its direction last July with the acquisition of Trymedia Systems in a deal estimated at USD 34 million.
Trymedia Games offers secure online distribution of games and multimedia content, and Macrovision announced the provision of its complete digital distribution service for Yahoo Europe at the end of last year.
