LostWinds 2 marks 100th WiiWare release

Frontier Developments follow-up launches tomorrow to hit land-mark

Nintendo has announced the release of LostWinds 2: Winter of the Melodias tomorrow in a move that will make it the 100th title released on the publisher's WiiWare platform.

The original title, from David Braben's Frontier Developments, won several awards and garnered critical acclaim when launched in May last year.

"We launched the original LostWinds game on WiiWare with much anticipation, as it was such an exciting and new way to access games," said Braben in a statement. "We are now thrilled to be able to mark the 100th game launch with LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias."

The platform has notched up its 100 titles in under 18 months, and has also included World of Goo and titles from the Final Fantasy franchise.

Braben's career was recently celebrated at an event co-organised by BAFTA and the GamesIndustry.biz Network near the 25th anniversary of the release of iconic title Elite.
