Local Voice
Japan-based localization outfit looking to help small game developers to launch internationally.
Osaka, Japan, February 1st, 2010
Osaka based game localization firm Active Gaming Media announced that they will expand their services to include "Local Voice" -a marketing promotions localization service.
Localization veteran and CEO of Active Gaming Media, Ibai Ameztoy believes that U.S. and European publishers need to do more than translate the content of their games to be successful in unfamiliar, overseas markets like Japan.
“Beyond localization, we’re looking to give smaller publishers a hand in marketing their games overseas,” states Mr. Ameztoy, “especially here in Japan, which has remained notoriously difficult for western game makers to break into.”
The service, which is targeted toward small and mid-sized game publishers, primarily includes the development and localization of promotional activities and communications in multiple overseas markets. The company boasts the capability to develop and localize marketing campaigns from and to eight languages: Japanese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Korean and Chinese.
“We’ve seen an increase in smaller developers in recent years, which in terms of increased creative content is really exciting. "We’d like to work closely with these smaller developers to get their games noticed at the international level.”
Active Gaming Media was established in 2008, and is Japan’s sole game localization specialty firm. They have localized more than 300 titles to date, including From Software’s critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls. In addition to their “Local Voice” localized marketing, Active Gaming Media offers translation, game debugging, and international market research services.
