Liquid's PS2 Favourites To Move Beyond Console
Following the success of its family-friendly PS2 titles, Liquid Games is to bring the same proven titles to the PC at the start of 2006.
November 1st 2005, Northamptonshire, UK: Since its launch in January, Liquid's range of console titles has already notched up considerable sales across Europe and beyond with a series of UK top-five hits in the value charts and the highest UK sales figures per title in the sector. Its distinctive family-friendly approach of bringing original titles at affordable pricepoints to the emerging breed of casual gamers has resulted in exceptional sell-through and impressive successes working with individual retailers. To take those same simple but appealing concepts and extend them onto PC is a simple and logical next step for Liquid.
"We don't expect the same level of sales that we've seen on the PS2, of course," says Kevin Hassall, Publishing Director at Oxygen Interactive - the company behind the Liquid Games label - "but the games and the simple ideas behind them have proven themselves on the console. There are plenty of PC owners out there who casually use their machines for entertainment without necessarily being 'gamers' as such. It's about seeing beyond the declining market of hardcore gamers and trying to find ways to engage people on what is, after all, a very well installed platform. Naturally this is only the beginning for us on the PC."
Liquid's catalogue so far has been designed specifically to appeal to the growing breed of 'casual' gamers, with simple concepts, quality presentation, and backed up with the only concerted promotional campaign in the 'budget' sector. This first step provides a simple extension of the label for Liquid and an easy way for consumers and retailers alike to identify the titles. Inevitably, despite Liquid's considerable successes on the PS2, the label's future lies with a broader range of titles.
