Lightstream acquires GameWisp technology
Video production startup to integrate monetization tech into service suite
Streaming production startup Lightstream has announced the acquisition of streaming monetization platform GameWisp's technology to help bolster its Lightstream Studio toolset.
GameWisp, a subscription platform that helped content creators monetize their streams, shut down in January. Lightstream has picked up the company's technology in the wake of the platform's closure, and will be introducing new products that make use of that tech in the coming year.
Lightstream will not be relaunching GameWisp, however.
"Making meaningful dollars from all your hard work doing what you love is something nearly every creator desires," said Lightstream CEO Stu Grubbs. "We believe that 'meaningful' is different for everyone and much like GameWisp we want to deliver something that empowers streamers at any stage of their journey and whatever their audience size."
Last month, Lightstream also acquired Arsenal.gg, adding an analytics platform alongside its existing stream personalization offering, Lightstream Studio.
